Maddy's Reeds
Officially established in 2024, oboe reeds from Maddy's Reeds have journeyed across the country. As a small business, I take pride that each reed is gouged, shaped, tied, and scraped by me. Each piece of cane is hand-selected to be the best for your reed. The reed making process is four days of a delicate balance between soaking, drying, and scraping the cane. Oboe is a difficult instrument, but I'm so glad I can help you on your reed journey!

My reed making journey began in college as I tried to navigate making quality reeds for myself. Throughout my master's degree and growing my oboe studio, the need for those reeds extended to my private lesson students. Now, after teaching oboe for six years, I have been perfecting my ability to make oboe reeds for over a decade. My favorite part of the reed making process is hearing a student play on a reed I made!
